A juniper berry is the female seed cone produced by the various species of junipers. The berries are green when young, and mature to a purple-black color over about 18 months. I got this oil to aid in sleep. It works well. Massage on the bottom of my feet and a drop for both temples. Now I sleep 6 or 7 hours straight. It's wonderful.

Juniper is great to use over the kidney area. It helps to detox the body, but only if you don't have kidney problems. This juniper smells so clean, I love to put a little in the tub in winter. Great to use in saunas, too.
